ELHS BAND INVITED TO PARTICIPATE IN 2008 U.S. OLYMPIC TRIALS

OlympicTrials2008

The 2008 Olympic Trials for Whitewater Salom will be held at the U.S. National Whitewater Center in Charlotte, NC on April 23, 2008, and our very own "Showband of the Carolinas" will play a major role in the Opening Ceremonies!  Sheila Wright, one of our wonderful Band Booster parents, was contacted by the organizers of this event due to the "reputation your band has within the community."  The organizers were in need of a quality Marching Band to lead in 130+ athletes for the Opening Ceremonies and then provide our National Anthem.  This is a great service that we can provide to give back to our community, and Mr. Stamey gladly accepted the opportunity.

Thanks to everyone who has worked so hard to make these opportunities a reality for our Band!  Whether you are a long-ago alumnus, a current member or parent, or just a supporter that loves our Band, you have been an integral part of our heritage, tradition and PRIDE!!!

THANK YOU!!!

FIVE ELHS BAND MEMBERS NAMED
2008 ELHS JUNIOR MARSHALLS!!!

notebook

Congratulations to Megan Arias, Katherine Hahn, Jessica Ingle, Cinnamon Mittan and Kayleigh Turner (in alphabetical order) on their appointment as five of the ten 2008 East Lincoln High School Junior Marshalls!!!  As anyone who has ever been in Band knows, it takes an amazing amount of commitment to be involved in a thriving band program.  These students have proven that not only can they juggle the sometimes hectic and demanding schedule of our Band, but they are living proof that you can be a stellar student academically AND participate in our Band program.  This speaks volumes about their personal character and desire to be the best that they can be in the classroom, while still make sure that they are aesthetically and culturally challenged!  What a great tribute this is to these students as individuals, their parents and the life experiences that have led them down the path to this great honor!

CONGRATULATIONS girls!!!!  Keep up the phenomenal work, and remember to always keep that P.R.I.D.E. that helps to bring about these moments of accomplishment in your lives!

ELHS WIND ENSEMBLE COMPLETES TOTALLY SUPERIOR YEAR FOR THE ELHS BAND PROGRAM WITH A "SUPERIOR" AT CONTEST FESTIVAL!!!

DistPlaque

Congratulations to the members of the ELHS Wind Ensemble.  After months of hard work preparing their grade V / VI Festival program, the fruits of their labors were realized!  The Wind Ensemble received straight ones for their performance on stage, yielding a SUPERIOR rating overall!  There were many band directors in the audience to watch our Wind Ensemble and all of them were just elated with our performance.  Mr. Don Peach, past band director at Lincolnton High School and conductor of our All-County Band this year, had MANY great compliments to pay the band stating, "Those kids played their 'butts' off today!  You guys created some 'tasty' moments!  It was just GREAT!"  Mr. Stamey would like to thank Mr. Peach endlessly for securing a flute for our flute soloist yesterday!  The Bands have much to be proud of this year as this last SUPERIOR rating finishes out a TOTALLY SUPERIOR year, in both the marching and concert arenas, for our band program!  Congratulations to all the members of our bands!  Your hard work has really paid off in a HUGE way!  We are so very proud of you!  Keep up that Passion Respect, Intensity, Dedication & Emotion!  There is no limit to the success you will have in band, and in life, if you truly live those five characteristics!!!

Band Camp Ends!

Today marked the end of another successful band camp. With the weather restrictions and change in practice times, the band responded wonderfully. The entire opener and most of the 2nd movement of the The Firebird is on the field with music, motion and guard work! A tremendous accomplishment and testament to the hard work the band members put forth all week long.

The 2007 show is coming together very well and is shaping up to be a most exciting competition show once the band gets the entire show on the field - this is definitely a "must see" production!
